Workshop 2012-09 - Patterns for Parallel Programming

Subject: Patterns for Parallel Programming

Abstract: After more than 40 years Moore's law is still going strong, and it looks like it will continue to do so for at least ten more years, and the free performance lunch is over, unless we change the way we think and program our applications. The Question is not IF, but rather WHEN. Luckily, Microsoft realized that already, and with the Visual Studio 2010 they introduced new technologies like Concurrency Runtime, Task Parallel Library, and Parallel LINQ to help us transition into the world of multi-core programming. C# vNext will introduce other paradigms like support for asynchronous programming.

Speaker: Tiberiu Covaci, Senior Trainer & Mentor, International Speaker

Speaker intro: Tiberiu ‘Tibi’ Covaci has worked on many software projects ranging from milking robots used by dairy farmers to state of the art financial systems used by Fortune 500 companies. Tibi is a Microsoft MVP, a Microsoft Certified Trainer and holds almost every Microsoft certification that a developer can hold, from .NET 1 to .NET 4. In 2003, Tibi founded the Swedish company Many-Core, providing .NET mentoring and training to companies in the United States and Europe. In 2011, he gave it all up to live the dream, moving to Bermuda to work as a programmer on a sunny beach with an umbrella drink by his side, but he could not pass up the opportunity to lead the Romanian office of Falafel Software. You will find Tibi speaking at conferences around the world about parallel & asynchronous computing, performance improvement and debugging of .NET applications, and ASP.NET MVC development. Tibi is a Microsoft MVP & ASP.NET insider, Telerik MVP & Insider, INETA Speaker, IASA Speaker, and the INETA Country Lead for Sweden.
